Nancy Reder

Nancy Reder serves as Deputy Executive Director and Director of Government Relations for the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE). She has more than 30 years of experience in providing direct services to vulnerable children and families, policy analysis in human service programs and nonprofit management. As a social policy analyst, she has worked on a broad array of federal legislative and regulatory issues affecting children and families, including families of children with disabilities and family economic issues. 

Prior to joining NASDSE, Ms. Reder worked as a school social worker; director of social policy for the League of Women Voters Education Fund; and for the U.S. House of Representatives as a senior staff member of the Select Committee on Children, Youth and Families. She also worked on state human services information management systems for IBM and helped to implement new federal child support enforcement provisions that were included in the overhaul of the nation’s welfare reform system in the mid-1990s. Ms. Reder has spoken widely on federal policy affecting children with disabilities and their families. She has written numerous articles and a book on federal funding for after-school programs. Ms. Reder received her B.A. and MSW degrees from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from Catholic University of America.
